Hi! I’m Chrissy Jee, and I’m the Dumpling Mama. I’m the oldest of four children and grew up in a suburban town in Upstate New York.
My family was one of only a handful of Chinese families in the area. Growing up I had a mix of Chinese and American experiences. I played field hockey and worked at McDonald’s. My mom packed turkey sandwiches for lunch and cooked Chinese food for dinner. I went to Chinese school every Sunday. My dad drove our family to New York City once or twice a month for family gatherings and Chinese celebrations.
I married a boy I knew my whole life. I call him Grouchy Husband because along with his may endearing qualities, he is grouchy. He is Chinese American just like me.
The American in me is a dreamer, passionate, and believes anything is possible. The Chinese in me is conservative, stoic, and motivated.
I hope you enjoy my website, thedumplingmama.com. I started this blog as a legacy for my daughters.
In the Life section, I blog about my daughters, Grouchy Husband, and starting my Lucky Envelope business. Expect weird and crazy thoughts from the conflicting Chinese and American in me.
In the Healthy Living section, I blog about good health, nutrient-dense food and non-toxic living.
In the Culture section, I blog about how my family celebrates Chinese culture and traditions.
Thanks for Reading, Chrissy xo
